The Moros classed dreadnought filled most of the vista, Nashh's insignia was clearly painted on the sides, but something felt wrong. Nashh had a certain style about him and it was evident even when undocking Nashh's usual flying style was missing.<br />
<br />
This pilot was observing the undock speed limit, rather than engaging the thrusters at maximum the moment he'd cleared his personal hanger. In fact this pilot was being extra careful, almost as if he didn't want to be noticed, he'd even turned the engines off as he passed a freighter so as not to cause turbulence...<br />
<br />
This wasn't Nashh.<br />
<br />
There was only one person that would even consider this today, Dame!<br />
He pulled the comm unit out of his pocket, pressing the speed dial.<br />
<br />
Over in Nashh's office the alliance meeting was in progress.<br />
<br />
"What is it!" Nashh growled.<br />
"Told you so." Anabaric's voice echoed out over the speaker phone.<br />
"Fuck you"<br />
Turning back to his console Anabaric entered a single line of code into the terminal screen.<br />
"Don't worry, I've fixed it for you, he's having navigational issues..."<br />
He could Lazy laughing in the background over the tinny speaker.<br />
<br />
The jump drives of the Moros had spooled up and blue lines of electricity pulsed along it's hull, as the field lines converged a small explosion blew out several decks near the aft of the ship. The field lines stuttered twice then converged as the drives overloaded, purple sparks jumped over the hull, the ship vanished.<br />
<br />
On board the Moros, Dame smiled as he made the jump, he was away, his cargo hold full of Nashh's rum and the Dreadnought fully fueled and ready. Then warning lights started to flash on the console, the jump was taking ages, something was wrong.<br />
<br />
Reality shifted again and the ship dropped back into normal space, he started to take stock of the situation, the ship was in one piece, but why did his head hurt so much? where was his cyno ship? In fact where the hell was he? Damage control was reporting minor damage to most systems, the jump drive was offline, fuel was showing depleted, navigation was showing errors, he couldn't possible be there... and why did his head hurt so much.<br />
<br />
Checking his jump timer, Dame started to realize what had happened. An overload had caused the ship to use all the fuel in one single jump, he was lucky to still be alive, the moros was stranded with no fuel, and blown drives. Damage control teams were already working on the drives, 6 hours for the repair. Not really an issue, his head was killing him and he had 14 hours of jump fatigue anyway.<br />
<br />
"So how did you know he was going to take that ship"<br />
"I didn't."<br />
"Then how did you do that?"<br />
"I put a bomb on your ship"<br />
"Just that one?"<br />
"Maybe..."Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08547379599037857051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717555566712901951.post-18900622454257992522014-10-23T03:48:00.002-07:002014-10-23T03:49:17.120-07:00Hauler Death Race II - The REDEADENING! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Coming soon (Sunday October 12th 2000EVE) to a system near you (TBA) is the return of the most exciting sport in New Eden, the T1 Hauler Death Race. The first iteration was hailed by the pundits as "better than football" and "so good I'd suicide my nyx to take part".<br />
<br />
Here's a little summary of HDRI from our very own Anabaric: http://imsdemons.pvp101.net/2014/01/bastards-hauler-deathrace.html<br />
<br />
The T1 Hauler Death Race is simple. So simple even you can do it. All you need to do is turn up in the step off system with a T1 hauler before the start of the race. You can fit the hauler however you like (with a few restrictions) so if you want to eliminate the competition that's fine, and practically encouraged.<br />
<br />
When the proverbial whistle is blown everyone will be fleet warped near to a can in space. Inside this can will be an exotic dancer and a mystery illegal substance (one of each for every contestant).<br />
<br />
You simply take your load and set off to the destination station (given during the fleet warp). To win, simply trade the exotic dancer and illicit substance back to the organiser.<br />
<br />
There will be no designated route. It may be possible to go through lowsec, highsec and nullsec but the final station will be in lowsec. If you get blown up en-route theres nothing stopping you buying another hauler and going back to the start, or possibly even a checkpoint TBC, (except that you'll probably have lost by that point).<br />
<br />
I'll probably think up some sort of twist but that will be announced closer to the time.<br />
<br />
Can anyone claim the crown of current World Champion TFS Tibbs?<br />
<br />
There will be a grand prize (yet to be determined) for the supreme victor in the race but there will also be some other prizes for<br />
* Most other contestants blown up<br />
* Spirit of the race<br />
* Most shit contestant<br />
<br />
BSTRD, MEAT and anyone else who wants to play is welcome so tell your internet spaceship friends, blog it, tweet it, vine it, whatever people do these days. The more the merrier.<br />
<br />
Restrictions:<br />
Only T1 haulers allowed.<br />
Only T1/T2 modules allowed (no officer/deadspace/faction)<br />
Only T1 rigs allowed<br />
No links or boosts allowed<br />
Dual boxing is allowed as long as the other screen is also a hauler<br />
Implants are allowed but discouraged in the name of a fairer race<br />
Fitting offensive modules and drones is allowed<br />
Forming gangs and backstabbing each other is allowed<br />
Name calling is allowed<br />
Dirty play is allowed<br />

<br />
Hardly spent any time in game recently, needed a small break but mainly been spending time getting ready for the end of the month. For those I haven't already told I'll be getting married on the 30th August.<br />
<br />
I'll be running a little ingame stag roam one night between now and then, expect terrible fits and large quantities of rum to be consumed.<br />
<br />
Catch you all soon.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08547379599037857051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717555566712901951.post-32598700432617866952014-07-30T01:37:00.001-07:002014-07-30T01:37:56.085-07:00Passing the torch. <div style="text-align: justify;">
When I took control of the <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=alliance&name=the+bastards." target="_blank">Bastards Alliance</a> 18months ago, it was a mothballed corp that down to 2 active members, looking for a new place to call home, the training corp was empty bar a few inactive alts.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I took control because <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=corp&name=the+bastards" target="_blank">The Bastards</a> brand needed to survive past that point, we pulled them into Shadow Cartel and merged the Kadavr Black Guard into them, swelling the initial numbers. Slowly recruiting some of the pilots you see today. And with the return of Johnny Twelvebore from the Tuskers we had the final piece of the puzzle, someone who wanted to push forward again. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
We gave the <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=alliance&name=shadow+cartel" target="_blank">Shadows</a> a big hug and dropped alliance, pushing foward deeper into lowsec on our own. With all the members being active and pushing recruitment we moved to 60+ players, most of which are active. Opening the training corp allowed us to recruit very young pilots, many of which have gone on to become great solo pilots in their own right. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
With the brand rebuilding many of the old inactive members surfaced and rejoined for a while, some famous faces among them. Just this week TheHermit has appeared, bringing with him the code for the missing ransom board - more on that soon!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Being a CEO is a large responsibility and not something to take on lightly, much like running a business you'll have to deal with both recruitment and discipline at times, even harder you're not actually paying these people to do your bidding. You need to be active, organise events, roams, push recruitment constantly, and not still try to have fun yourself whilst doing all of this. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This year real life for me has been hectic for those that don't know I'm getting married the end of next month, so between that and career changes I haven't been able to give the Bastards what it needs from a CEO. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So it's been an easy decision rather than just letting the corp go to ruin I have chose to step back now whilst the corp is still growing strongly. I'll stay on in advisory for as long as they'll have me, but now I just get to turn up and blow stuff up again!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://johnnytwelvebore.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Johnny Twelvebore</a> takes over as the new CEO, a graduate of the <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=corp&name=meatshield+bastards" target="_blank">Meatshield Training corp</a> and has largely been running the corp in my absense anyway, only fair that he takes the shiny crown with it. </div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
And no, you can't have my stuff, I'm not quitting eve. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

A very simple explanation, I've been asked this several times so I figure it's just easier to write it all down.<br />
<br />
Meta Levels are at the simplest explanation graduations in the quality of the item.<br />
A simple rule is the higher the meta level the better the item.<br />
You can check the meta level of an item in game by clicking the show info property in the menu.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;">From the <a href="https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Meta" target="_blank">EVEWiki</a>:</span><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><br /></span>
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">The Meta level of an item indicates its quality. The higher the number, the better the item often is.</span></i><br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Tech I items have no Meta level displayed. They are considered to be of base quality.</span></i><br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Tech II items have a Meta level of 5. They are the highest quality items that can be manufactured and sold by players.</span></i><br />
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i>
<i>Certain faction or other items may have Meta levels higher than 5. </i></span><br />
<i><span style="font-size: x-small;">Their attributes, however, may not always be better than those of the Tech II variant of the item.</span></i><br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta 0 "Tech I"</u></h3>
Tech I items are meta level 0, they are the most poor quality of all the versions of an item in game. They often have poor bonus, combined with high CPU, PG, and Capacitor use.<br />
<br />
They are created by players from minerals, as such they have a cost fixed by the mineral market which is largely stable. Due to the nature of the market and production the price is largely dependant on the cost of materials. There is no good reason ever to use these items directly on your ship, not even cost.<br />
They are often more expensive than the named versions.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta 1-4 "named versions"</u></h3>
The named versions of the modules are dropped in varying quantities from NPC's in missions, belts, and complexes. They have the same skill requirements as the Tech I versions, however they usually have significantly better bonuses, lower fitting requirements and in terms of active modules, often lower activation use. Due to the source of these being loot drops, they are often seen as having little intrinsic value, mission runners often dump these onto the market at very low prices to bulk buy orders. There is often more being dropped per month, than meta 0 (T1 items) produced by the manufacturing process, hence oversupply of mission loot combined with no fixed cost (ammunition+time) to produce means they often sell for less than the Tech I counterpart.<br />
<br />
Meta 4 items or "Best named Meta" often have the same bonus as the Tech II item, but with lower fitting/activation costs, and no extra skill requirement. These items are often very valuable, and the market knows this, you can expect to pay more than the cost of Tech II items for these. They are often used over the Tech II versions on very tight fitting ships, or by pilots lacking the skill requirement for the Tech II version.<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta 5 "Tech II"</u></h3>
These items are mainly* created by players using the research/invention process, the cost fluctuates based on several index's but is still relatively stable. In a change to all the other meta levels, Tech II items also need a higher level trained of the required skill to use. They usually have good bonuses, and marginally higher fitting requirements than the Tech I item.<br />
Tech II weapons allow the use of advanced Tech II ammunition, which you are unable to use in any other meta level items, including the higher faction and officer meta levels. Tech II weapons also gain a second damage bonus from the weapon specialisation skill. Meaning that a Tech II weapon can have more damage with the same ammunition as a faction or best named meta weapon which has exactly the same damage bonus attribute.<br />
<br />
They can be easily identified by the yellow flash in the top left corner containing II<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>Meta 6-15</u></h3>
<div>
This is where it gets a little grey, they are split into the following categories, but the line blurs between the exact levels. The easiest way to split them is by the colour tag in the top left corner.<br />
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>
Meta Storyline Items </u></h3>
<strike>These are rare items, due to their limited source, they usually have similar bonus to the Tech II versions, often with very low CPU/PG/Activation costs. They are dropped as specific loot for completing some of the COSMOS and Epic Arc missions. They are often very overpriced, due to their rarity.</strike><br />
<br />
<u>Amendments</u><br />
COSMOS items do not drop, they are manufactured from materials and BPC obtained from COSMOS missions and sites. They require specialized skills to manufacture, and very few people bother to manufacture them at all, as there are often cheaper faction / deadspace alternatives. Few people do COSMOS missions, so supply and trade volume is low and prices usually higher than the actual value.<br />
<a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/243mvx/eve_meta_levels_explained_again/ch3lw9v" target="_blank">TauCabalander</a><br />
<br />
Storyline AFAIK are ALWAYS worse than T2 - but have lowest possible CPU/PG need.<br />
<a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/Eve/comments/243mvx/eve_meta_levels_explained_again/ch3lpqf" target="_blank">Tetlanesh</a><br />
<br />
They can be easily identified by the green flash in the top left corner containing a O<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta + Navy Faction items</u></h3>
These items claimed from loyalty points stores from the various factions in EVE. They are relatively rare and expensive due to the LP requirement, the best items are often only available to faction warfare members, and thus command a good price. They vary in quality but they will have at least the same bonus as the Tech II item, without the skill requirement. They are often much better.<br />
<br />
They can be easily identified by the green flash in the top left corner containing a diamond<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta + Pirate Faction </u></h3>
<div>
These can drop from Special NPCs in asteroid belts though low and null sec. They are relatively rare, and thus command a good price, they vary in quality depending on the item, but they will have at least the same bonus as the Tech II item, without the skill requirement. They are often much better. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
They can be easily identified by the green flash in the top left corner containing a diamond<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta + Deadspace Items</u></h3>
<div>
These drop only from inside of NPC complexes they are often of very high value. The bonuses are much better than the Tech II versions, however some have higher activation charge to balance them. There is usually several version of the item C-Type being the lower version, with B, A, and then X-type being the best. Due to the loot table changes it is often worth looking at the market value of all version, as often the prices do not reflect the best versions. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
They can be easily identified by the blue flash in the top left corner containing a cross<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>
Meta + Officer Items</u></h3>
<div>
These drop from special officer NPCs in deep nullsec, they are elite items, with some massive bonuses over even the Deadspace items, expect to pay billions of isk for the good ones. Some of them also have massive PG requirements, thus are unable to be used on smaller ships. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
They can be easily identified by the purple flash in the top left corner containing a star<br />
<br />
<h3>
<u>Compare Tool</u></h3>
<div>
There is an option in game to compare items, open the info of an item in game, and look at the other variants far right tab. At the bottom there is an option to compare versions, you can select the attributes you want to compare and quickly see which version of the item is the best. </div>
<div>
<u><br /></u></div>
<h3>
Notes:</h3>
In terms of the invention process of Tech II items, the meta level comes into play, the higher the base meta level used, the higher the chance of successfully gaining a Tech II BPC.<br />
<br />
Tech I items have a valid use in terms of mineral compression. Currently with the correct skills/installation you can manufacture items from raw minerals which take up less space than the minerals used. As you can also reprocess these with minimal/zero loss you can transport abnormally large loads on minerals in this manner. <a href="https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=eve+mineral+compression+guide&oq=EVE+mineral+com&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0l5.3551j0j9&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8" target="_blank">Linky</a><br />
<br />
*A few Tech II blueprints originals are in existence, these rare blueprints were given out (with some controversy) early in EVE's life, and can produce Tech II items without the invention process.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08547379599037857051noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717555566712901951.post-24111314038804121842014-04-15T02:37:00.003-07:002014-04-15T04:06:47.292-07:00EVEnt - EVE Nottingham 2014<a href="https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=336343" target="_blank">Linky</a><br />

We would have to pick up some special loot items on the way just to ensure we completed the course.<br />
<br />
The rules where quite simple, and deliberately ambiguous.<br />
<ul>
<li>Restrictions: </li>
<li>Only T1 haulers allowed.</li>
<li>Only T1/T2 modules allowed (no officer/deadspace/faction) </li>
<li>Only T1 rigs allowed</li>
<li>No links or boosts allowed</li>
<li>Dual boxing is allowed</li>
<li>Implants are allowed but discouraged in the name of a fairer race </li>
<li>Fitting offensive modules and drones is allowed</li>
<li>Forming gangs and backstabbing each other is allowed </li>
<li>Name calling is allowed</li>
<li>Dirty play is allowed</li>
<li>No pod killing</li>
</ul>
<div>
Unsurprisingly the dirty play started immediately, with myself offering a bounty for TFS Tibbs immediate destruction. We all undocked and started to the fleet align to a distant planet, a sorrier collection of pirates in haulers you'd be unlikely to see. A mixture of lasers, blasters, had been bolted onto the haulers. The Nereus was king it would seem, with several bastards realising that 3 drones could be very effective.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first task, a simple warp to a safe spot and pick up a single loot item from two different cans, to make it more fun the cans were also 50km away from each other.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As the haulers landed on grid the fights immediately started, with drones launching and blasters tearing chunks out of everybodys shields. Tibb's hauler started smartbombing. Launching my drones at Tibbs, I burned 10km straight up away from the furball, then headed over to one of the cans. </div>
<div>
At this point I also decloaked my dual boxed loki and started webbing the other ships, it took them several minutes to realise quite how much dirty play I was willing to use. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559443" target="_blank">Tibbs soon exploded</a>, and dove off to station to reship, I continued to cause chaos with the loki, whilst having collected my two loot items was off out of system and heading towards to the waypoint 12 jumps away in lowsec. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Many of the other haulers were still on grid <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559487" target="_blank">fighting</a> each other, rather than trying to run with the loot. Tibbs reshipped into his nano'd cloaky hauler and soon had both loot items and was in pursuit. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I was making good time, but then jumped into the middle of a hostile faction warfare fleet...</div>
<div>
realising that I should probably have fitted a cloak rather than a neut, I had little options but to deploy drones and look scary! Strangely the ships that had me pointed immediately ran away!! I was a little shocked at first, then as the Shadow Cartel gang landed on grid I realised they assumed I was bait :D</div>
<div>
I waved at some of my old alliance mates in Shadow Cartel, who obviously a little confused why I was in a hauler, and quickly warped off before someone had the sense to point me. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Punker met one of the gangs en route and was <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559486" target="_blank">exploded</a>. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The rest of the journey was a little less eventful, Tibbs was starting to catch up in his cloak+mwd hauler, whilst my 400mm plated hauler was feeling a little fat off the gates, offlining the plate (still not sure that helps) I hoped to gain a little agility. As we hit the final system Tibbs caught me up and docked first to pick up the return trip loot. I landed on station just as he was undocking, but not close enough to scram and kill him. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Meanwhile the rest of the group, had either started their journey behind us, or after reshipping into a combat ship, and where planning to ambush us on the way back!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
On the return leg, Tibbs extra agility was making huge differences, and he quickly was one jump, then two ahead, I could only hope that he would be exploded on the way home!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We didn't run into any trouble on the way home, and the "gate camp" that should have prevented our return were too busy shooting each other to actually stop us. Tibbs arrived home, and finally managed to force Ithica to accept the trade and win the race. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I arrived shortly after, traded my loot for second place, then undocked in the hauler and flew back to the gatecamp planning to suicide myself. In fact I actually made short work of <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559735" target="_blank">Tekei's Rifter</a> and was happily chewing on the somewhat surprised <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559860" target="_blank">tristan </a>belonging to Punker, when <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559857" target="_blank">Lazy </a>decided to shoot me.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All in all a great fun race, and thanks to Ithica Hawk to running it (who as official observer should have brought a <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=21559858" target="_blank">bigger </a>ship!)</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The final scores for the Deathrace where:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
1st Place and congratulations to TFS Tibbs for coming back from behind and winning the grand prize</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Congratulations also to Sarcos for winning the 'Spirit of the Race' for stopping multiple times en-route and trying to kill passers-bye. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Anabaric takes home the 'most kills' prize and bonus title of 'dastardly motherfucker' for his legal, yet unexpected use of a loki to web the competition. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Commiserations to Tekei for being the most shit and being destroyed and put out of the race at the earliest opportunity.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
From 7-8 starters only 3 returned safely: Tibbs, Anabaric and CPT Shannon Igans so well done. </div>
<div>
Especially to ShannonIgans for successfully running the 'bitter-vet' gate camp formed of Anabaric, Tibbs, Punker and Lazy who couldn't catch a single T1 hauler between them.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>

The Death race was a good laugh for all involved, we'll be running this again soon, and opening the doors to all of new eden. Whilst I expect it to be a clusterfuck it should be a giggle. <br /></div>
So every once in a while I run a little fitting competition, I usually ask the mods what they fancy, and then promptly ignore them and do my own thing. But it's christmas, so what the hell lets let their ideas loose on the boards...<br />

<br />
Ok.... you wanted it, here we go:<br />

EVE Target Calling<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8464/8414482318_728e2188f7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8464/8414482318_728e2188f7.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Following on from my brief FC'ing guide, here is a one regarding target selection for target callers.</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now some fleets have special target priorities, and where possible I'll mention those as I go, but remember this guide is meant as a primer for FC's, and I'm going to hope by the time you are taking out a specialist fleet you'll know what to shoot first anyway!</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Now the idea of target calling is simple, by focus firing you use the entire fleets DPS to remove enemy DPS in the quickest possible way. At the same point you need to consider the integrity of your own fleet. </div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><u>A simple target priority list is this:</u></b></span></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
<ol>
<li style="text-align: justify;">DPS</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Everything else.</li>
</ol>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you kill all of the enemies DPS ships they cannot kill you. You win the fight, and in the simplest fights it it is just that simple. Now to maximise efficiency of this process you need to know which ships put out the most DPS, and which are the easiest to kill. This comes from being able to assess the current fleet composition of the enemy, and choosing which ships will remove the most DPS in the shortest time. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
EFT is your friend here, the more you know about ships and their capabilities the better.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i>TIP - Playing in EFT is good way of learning ships, if your unsure what fits to look at a simple way is pick an active PVP corp's killboard look over their losses, import the fits into EFT and see how much EHP and damage they provide.</i></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Example: Against a shield fleet with 3 brutix and 3 drakes</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A Brutix can put out 1000dps, and has 40k EHP</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A Drake puts out 500dps but is likely to have 70k EHP</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(All figured made up on the spot)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To remove 1000 dps from drakes it takes almost twice as long as killing a single brutix. In this situation you are better off shooting the Brutix's. However be warned in an armour gang, the Brutix is likely to have 80k EHP but only do 500dps. So be aware of what the enemy fleet is composed of. If the fleet has an obvious theme you can make a judgement on targets.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><u>Now obviously this is EVE, it's not as simple as that!</u></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In EVE we have lots of ships that act as force multipliers. Force Multipliers are ships that either increase the threat of the enemy fleet, or decrease the threat of your own fleet. Many brawling gangs will run buffer fits rather than active tanks, however by adding a logistics cruiser to the gang the enemy fleet is suddenly capable to repairing some or all of the damage you are shooting at them. Their ships stop exploding! This is a bad thing! Or if they add an ECM ship, your own ships are unable to lock and shoot the enemy, your fleet looses DPS, or potentially your own logistics ships suddenly are unable to repair you! Your fleet starts to explode! This is a <u>really</u> bad thing!</div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Some examples of force multipliers are:</b></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Logistics - these repair their own fleet. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">EWAR - these negatively effect the enemy fleet</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Tacklers - these can hold down one of your ships, forcing you to stay on the fight, or slowing it down so that it takes more damage. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Cyno ships - these bring in support, either in the form of capital ships, or more subcapitals bridged from a titan. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Covert Cyno's - incoming Blackops ships</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Capital Ships Carriers/Dread/SC/Titans</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
When there is force multipliers in the enemy fleet you have to start looking at the threat they pose, and decide if you need to kill them, disable them, or ignore them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Threat evaluation of Logistics. </span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Logistic ships are a Tech2 cruiser hull, whilst they do not pose a direct threat to your fleet, they are their to repair the enemy fleet, a task they do very well. Usually they will be at the back of the fleet as far as possible away from you, so you have to go round or through the dps ships to get to them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The more of them in the enemy fleet the more you need to pay attention to them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Ignore:</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have enough DPS in your fleet to kill enemy ships then you can pretty much ignore them, and focus on killing DPS. Focusing your DPS on fragile ships is a good way to test the enemy logistic tank. If you can't break a ship, call 3 targets and tell all ships to lock each of these, also tell everyone to lock a random ship in the enemy fleet. Now have them fire a single salvo at the random ship, then immediately fire on one of the three to focus fire. The initial random shooting should light up the enemies watch list and make it difficult for the logistics ships to tell who is about to be primary.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Disable:</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have your own ECM/Ewar ships task these to disable the enemy logistics, this may include falcons (ECM) Curse (neuting), sending all available ECM drones is usually a good plan.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Kill/Force off</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have tried to break the enemies tank, and are unable to keep killing ships you need to start firing on the logistic ships themselves either to destroy them, or to force them to warp out. If you can't kill the logistics and you can't kill anything else in fleet you need to bug out, or escalate the fight with support.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Threat Evaluation of EWAR. </span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As a threat EWAR ships should rank highly on your list. There are many different forms, and they are less or more dangerous to certain fleet doctrines and ship types. Ewar comes in several forms, the most common in PVP are:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">ECM</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Neuting</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Target Painting</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Webs</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Sensor Damping</li>
</ul>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">ECM is often considered the worst threat, it prevents the targeting ship from locking anything and generally being useful. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Neuting, slightly more specialised as some ships can still fire their guns/missiles whilst being neuted. Their shield/armour resists may be significantly lowered if they are active modules, making them easier to kill. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Target Painting, this increases your signature size to make you a bigger target, thus easier to hit and you will take more damage. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Webs, slow the target down, making it easier to hit/take more damage. Also can be used to separate ships from their support if the fight is moving on the grid.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Sensor Damping, this can be used to either makes ships lock slower, very dangerous against logistic ships which have to quickly change targets to repair them. Alternatively this can be used to reduce the locking range of ships, useful to force support ships (logistics/ewar platforms) to come closer into the fight, thus putting them at greater risk. </li>
</ul>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Ignore</u></b></div>
</div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If after their arrival you still have enough DPS to kill the enemy ships, and are not loosing significant numbers of your own fleet. Target painters against your battleships can pretty much be ignored UNLESS there are dreadnoughts on the field. Target painters on your frigates shouldn't be ignored, as you will be taking far more damage.</div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Disable:</u></b></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you have your own ECM/Ewar ships task these to disable the enemy EWAR platforms. Sensor damps are very good at countering ranged ewar ships, who will often attempt to sit outside the main fight.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
ECM drones are less useful given the extreme range.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Kill/Force off</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Ewar ships are often relatively fragile, and long range guns, or even sending a couple of frigates towards them is often enough to force them from the battle even if you can't kill them.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Threat Evaluation of Tacklers</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
There are many types of tackle ships, and most PVP fits have some form of tackle fitted.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The main threat of enemy tackle is that it commits you to the fight, it's largely not a threat until you want to leave! Skirmish/Nano and Sniper gangs have to treat tackle ships differently. These cannot afford to get bogged down in close combat so they have to destroy any scram/web tackle ships as a high priority. Rapiers/Huggins with their long webs are the bane of skimish gangs, and Arazu/Lachesis are often able to apply scrams at 20-25km and point ships out to 80km+ with bonus's. Tackle frigates interceptors interdictors can move very fast and provide warp in points for heavier ships.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Threat Evaluation of Cyno ships</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These are a massively unknown risk, a cyno field on grid means that either the enemy (or a third party) is about to bring on considerable support. Usually this support is going to be large enough to change the balance of power in a big way, you don't commit more ships to a loosing battle unless it's going to change it to a winning one! Unless you have your own backup support you should be thinking about an exit plan at this point.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cyno's can either be used to bring in any or all of the following:</div>
<br />
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Triage Carriers - these are giant very powerfull logistics ships normally dropped to support Battleships heavy fleets who have the EHP to make it worth while. They are harder to kill than normal logistics cruisers, and rep more! </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">More sub caps! Titan's can bridge any form and quantity* of sub caps to a cyno beacon, that means you could suddenly be facing 30+ battleships! or even 100 frigates!</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Combat Carriers - whilst relatively rare carriers can field large amounts of drones, or fighters to kill battleships. </li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Dreadnoughts - these capital ships apply huge damage to other capitals/structures with the right support they are able to alpha battleship size ships. They struggle to lock, let alone hit smaller ships, cruisers and frigates are largely immune to dreadnoughts.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Titans - it does happen... </li>
</ul>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Ignore</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not wise. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Disable</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not possible, once the cyno is up it runs for 10mins unless you kill the ship. (less on bonused hulls)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Kill</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Cyno ships are immobile once the field activates, usually you won't have very long before the enemy fleet starts to jump to the beacon. If you can manage to kill the ship quickly you may prevent all of the gang jumping through. Be advised, most fleets that are running cyno's will use something with alot of tank to light the cyno. Most gangs will also have a backup cyno just in case you kill the first one. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">Threat Evaluation of Covert Cyno ships</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
These are usually more of a risk to your fleet than normal cyno's. They only allow BlackOPs battleships, Recon's, Stealth Bombers, and Covert T3's to jump (or be bridged) in, but because of the value of whats about to land on you, you can be sure that your enemy is very confident that he is bringing enough to completely overpower you.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Ignore</u></b></div>
<div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not wise, pretty much suicide.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Disable</u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Not possible, once the cyno is up it runs for 1min unless you kill the ship. (less on bonused hulls)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u>Kill</u></b></div>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Good news on this front, Covert cyno's can only be fitted to particular ships, these are usually have squishier tanks than normal cyno ships. Unless it's a tech3 cruiser as these can be (and usually are) highly tanked.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><u><span style="font-size: large;">In conclusion</span></u></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So now we're looking at a broader threat landscape than the beginning of the post. It will change depending on your own fleet composition, but as a starting point you will want to consider threats in this order. </div>
<div>
<ol>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Cyno's</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Ewar</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Logistics</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">DPS</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Everything else</li>
</ol>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Hopefully after reading this guide you'll now understand more about the threat landscape you are facing as an FC, and have a better idea on how to evaluate and deal with threats.<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zQm4e7iQTbE/S1xY0bKWVXI/AAAAAAAAAl8/ku3WWpIU94k/HERDING%20CATS%5B5%5D.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zQm4e7iQTbE/S1xY0bKWVXI/AAAAAAAAAl8/ku3WWpIU94k/HERDING%20CATS%5B5%5D.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<b><br /></b>
<b><u>What does the FC actually do?</u></b><br />
FC'ing is actually relatively simple in theory, you need all of your people in the right place, shooting the right thing. If you can manage that task usually you'll start winning fights.<br />
<br />
In practice of course there is much more to it than that, getting people undocked together in a cohesive fleet can often be a challenge for some groups. <br />
<u><b><br /></b>
<b>But we have an FC, why should I start doing it?</b></u><br />
In every corp or alliance there is usually only a few FCs that are willing to step up and take people out on roams. This can often be the difference between an active alliance, and a disbanded one. Everyone should try commanding the fleet, you learn a lot in a short period of time. The best FC's aren't always the ones with the greatest skill points, or the shiny ships.<br />
FC'ing can often be stressful, some FC's will log on to relax only to find that everyone is immediately asking for them to start a fleet and spoon feed them content. The more FC capable pilots a corp has the less likely those FC's will burn out.<br />
<br />
<b><u>How much SP do you need?</u></b><br />
Very little is the answer to this. Is does help to have some SP invested into leadership, but you can FC from any position within the fleet, be it squad member, commander, or the wing or fleet position. The only thing I would say is make sure you have enough skillpoints to pass down any bonus's. At leadership V you are able to pass bonus's onto a squad of 10 pilots. It's a relatively short skill and I encourage all pilots to train it, even if they are not going to actually run the fleets. The leadership skills also pass on benefits to the pilots in the squad, you should check them out, as extra HP, agility and scan resolution are often very nice to have.<br />
<br />
<b><u>What do you need to know to start?</u></b><br />
Knowing the capabilities of your fleet is the starting point. There are many different types of fleets to fly in EVE, and knowing what your fleet consists of is the first step. Your composition should dictate the types of fight you should take, and also know which ones to avoid. It's beyond the scope of this blog to discuss all the fleet tactics, but you should try to know a little about the type of fleet you want to run.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Where should we go?</u></b><br />
Once you've got your fleet undocked and ready you need somewhere to take them, route planning is a combination of knowing the area, the groups within it, and looking at the map.<br />
If you are not familiar with the star map, press F10 and have a play. The starmap, is a map of New Eden, it contains huge amounts of data about the current server state. Look at the statistics options, the map can tell you including: Ships/pods destroyed in the last hour (recent hot zones), NPC killed in the last... (ratters/missioners), ships in space, jumps (how active stargates are), cyno's, and much much more.<br />
Take some time and look though the options.<br />
There is no point running though 50 jumps of 0.0 where there is only a couple of people in the entire area. Find a busier area! After you've been in an area for a while you'll get a sense of where people are, most groups will base out of a few systems, and will be very active around them. Going to their home system is often a good way to kick the hornets nest.<br />
<br />
<b><u>What fleets to fly?</u></b><br />
When you're learning to FC fly something cheap, a brawling gang is a good start, as you pretty much just get everyone to warp to zero and start calling targets. Fly a gang you're familiar with, if you've only ever flown nano gangs, don't start with a brawler! Make sure that everyone knows your in new to FC'ing and brings sensible ships to the party. If you tell everyone that they are likely to be exploded, and that you're not going to pay any reimbursement they will usually bring something suitable. <br />
<br />
A good way to make sure everyone is flying the right ship is to have the ships ready and fitted, then you just sell everyone ship (or give if your rich), that way everyone is flying the right fleet composition, and no one has an excuse that they don't have the ship ready. (Thanks to <a href="https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/jones%20boneshtthttps://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/jones%20bonesps://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/jones%20bones" target="_blank">Jones Bones</a> for that tip)<br />
<br />
<b><u>Who scouts?</u></b><br />
When you're starting out don't scout yourself, even if you're in a small gang it's better to have a dedicated scout/tackle. These often die as the fight starts, and you really don't want to try FC'ing from a pod.<br />
<br />
<b><u>OK, so I've got my route planned and everyone is undocked, now what?</u></b><br />
Get your scout to start the route, make sure everyone knows what the next destination is. Your scout should be one or two jumps ahead of your main group. Keep the rest of the gang together, make sure that everyone is keeping relatively quite on comms. I usually ask that people type in fleet rather than over voice comms, that way when the scout or I say something it's heard and immediately understood.<br />
If people are being noisy on comms tell them to shut up. It's your fleet you are in charge.<br />
<br />
Keep the gang together, don't let people start wandering off to random belts and shooting NPC's.<br />
It's often worth keeping moving, if your scout doesn't find anything within a few minutes of jumping into system, tell him to move forward to the next one. Boredom is a bad thing in a fleet.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Scout's found a target what now?</u></b><br />
What happens next depends on the target, when you're starting out just get the scout or another dedicated tackler to warp in and tackle it. As soon as it's caught jump the rest of the gang in and warp straight over.<br />
As you get more confident (and depending on your fleet comp) you can start sending in a smaller force to try to escalate the fight (he warps his friends in, you drop the rest of the gang and kill everyone!).<br />
<br />
<b><u>Who do we shoot? - Target calling</u></b><br />
Other than getting the gang to the right spot, you need to shoot the right things. It's usually better to focus fire the entire gang on one ship at a time as this clears enemy DPS off the field fastest, start by calling a single ship primary, whilst you're doing this look for another target call this secondary so that everyone should have two ships locked.<br />
<br />
Be clear on what target everyone should be shooting.<br />
<br />
<i>ABC in the Thorax is Primary</i><br />
<i>XYZ in the Vexor is secondary</i><br />
<i>[explosion]</i><br />
<i>XYZ in the Vexor is now primary, </i><br />
<i>CDF in the Arbitartor is secondary</i><br />
<i>[explosion] </i><br />
<br />
And so forth, depending on how quickly the enemies are exploding you may need to call a tertiary target as well.<br />
<br />
<i>ABC in the Thorax is Primary</i><br />
<i>XYZ in the Vexor is secondary</i><br />
<i>Lock up DFG Thorax, and EHG Maller</i><br />
<br />
Make sure that you have locked the extra targets too, if you see they are taking damage, tell everyone to focus fire. Be clear on your orders, tell people to shut up if needed.<br />
<br />
<i>Clear Comms! </i><br />
<i>Stop shooting the secondary target! Primary is ABC in the Thorax. </i><br />
<br />
People will understand and listen if you are clear and concise.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Target Selection</u></b><br />
Target calling is making sure everyone knows who to shoot, but you as the FC need to choose the target. Again this depends on your fleet composition and the situation, you'll learn this with practice.<br />
<br />
Ideally you want to clear as much of the enemy DPS as quickly as possible whilst keeping as much as your fleet alive as possible.<br />
<br />
1. Fragile ships with high dps - Anything likely to be squishy is a high value target (ie Brutix is a shield gang)<br />
2. High DPS ships<br />
3. Everything else.<br />
<br />
Don't get bogged down with grinding highly tanked low dps ships - a Drake is a good example of low dps, high tank, as are Mallers, and the prophesy. The more you know about ships and their capabilities the better FC you will become.<br />
<br />
Now in some situations there are other threats which need to be dealt with immediately.<br />
<br />
1. Cyno ship lighting on grid<br />
2. ECM<br />
3. Logistics<br />
4. Recons/Ewar<br />
5. DPS<br />
<br />
Force multipliers such as recon ships, and logistics can drastically change the outcome of a fight. Learn these hulls, learn the risks, and recognise them. These threats should be considered as priority, and you need to make a call early to either kill, neutralise or ignore. This subject requires it's own post, which I'll follow up with soon.<br />
<br />
<b><u>In conclusion</u></b><br />
Like everything else in EVE practice is key, the best way to learn is go out there in a cheap fleet and start exploding. No one will worry if you derp a few times, as long as you learn from your mistakes. Don't worry about loosing ships, I've seen highly competent FC's welp billion isk fleets with a bad judgement call, but I'll still fly with them the next week, as I know they won't make that mistake the next time.<br />
<br />
We would all rather go out in a "suicide" roam with a new FC than just sitting round in local, waiting for something to happen. The one thing we all agree? FC's are important, and we love people for stepping up and making it happen.<br />

<br />
Beginning today, Wednesday November 20th, 2013, through Saturday, December 7th, 2013, CCP will be accepting PLEX for GOOD donations from our players. For each PLEX donated during this period, CCP hf. will contribute USD $15 to the Icelandic Red Cross to fund their aid efforts in the Philippines.<br />
<br />
To make your PLEX for GOOD donation:<br />
<br />
• Contract one or more PLEX to the "<a href="https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/CCP%20PLEX%20For%20GOOD" target="_blank">CCP PLEX for GOOD</a>" character on a 14 day item exchange contract.<br />
• Contracts will be accepted within 24 hours of submission, though usually sooner than that.<br />
<br />
Please ensure the receiving character is the one named above, and double check the character is in the C C P Corporation to avoid contracting PLEX to the incorrect character. CCP cannot guarantee the return of PLEX contracted to the wrong character.<br />
<br />
We cannot thank the EVE Community enough for the support, encouragement and dedication that you have shown to the PLEX for GOOD initiative over the past three years. Previous PLEX for GOOD initiatives have resulted in donations totaling over $100,000 US Dollars to those in need during natural disasters in Haiti, Japan, Pakistan and the United States. In total, the EVE Community has raised donations totaling more than $150,000 US Dollars for charitable causes since the first collection in 2004 following the Indian Ocean earthquake and Tsunami.<br />
<br />
As a gesture of thanks, for each PLEX you donate CCP will give you two virtual in-game Sisters of EVE Food Relief “'Humanitarian' T-shirt YC115” t-shirts (one male and one female) for use in EVE to show your support for PLEX for GOOD. These t-shirts are currently being designed, and will be distributed on Tuesday, December 10th.<br />

<span style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande', 'Trebuchet MS', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18.1875px;">Generally pirates are the nicest people in EVE and certainly have the most fun, we shoot what we want, we never have to feel bad about it afterwards. If we do, there is nothing in the code that say's you can't help the victim out either with advice or even a new ship. Most of us don't have massive ego's we aren't an elite nullsec power block, we understand that sooner or later everything explodes. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">We are here for the explosions, both theirs and our own!</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: 'Lucida Grande', 'Trebuchet MS', Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18.1875px;">Mainly I think it's because we are not locked into a single play style that can ever be upset by others. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">Anything anyone tries to do to us is actually content for our play style! If you expect every fight will end up as 1vsMany, and that Drakes and mallers are always bait. If they bring a 50 man gang into system and hunt you? Just see that as a challenge to pick off a couple of their tacklers whilst laughing at the ineffective blob. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">What's the worst that can happen? They bring 100:1 odds? You can just bat-phone our friends in other pirate groups and we bring a suitable fight to the table. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">Be happy they brought us this challenge \o/ </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">Remember to thank them for your evenings entertainment! </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">We are red to everyone, but understand that at times purple beats red. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">Also always share advice and tips with strangers and new players, there is no reason not to help people that want to come play in lowsec, the more people there is here, the more fun we can all have. It is also adds to the challenge, it's more fun to kill a competent pilot in a well fitted ship, than a noob in a facepalm fit.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Lucida Grande, Trebuchet MS, Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="line-height: 18.1875px;">Many of my closest friends in EVE I met at the other end of a blaster.</span></span></div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The Meatshield Bastards</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<a href="https://gate.eveonline.com/Corporation/Meatshield%20Bastards" target="_blank">Meatshield </a>our training corp is starting to bear fruit, our young pilot <a href="https://gate.eveonline.com/Profile/Eric%20Shang">Eric Shang</a> is only 21 days old (born 2013.10.10) and has been part of the Meatshield for the last 12 days of that officially. We took him straight out of flight school, gave him a skill plan and a few frigates and a pile of ammo.<br />
<br />
So far he's 26 for 13 kills, which is pretty impressive.
Now whilst you might just say he's tagged along on kills with the Bastards and you'd be right, he's also out there trying to do it alone, so far he's taken down a venture on his own, but here's the first real solo kill a <a href="http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/killmail.php?id=20930121" target="_blank">pvp fit rifter</a>, taken down by Eric's Breacher.<br />
<br />
So Eric's going to get a shiny medal for his first real solo kill, and I'll see if I can't find something a little more useful from my hanger for him to get exploded too.<br />
<br />
He's also <a href="http://ericshangthepirate.wordpress.com/2013/10/18/going-solo-for-the-first-time/" target="_blank">started to blog about his adventure</a>s, it's a good read for anyone thinking about starting in piracy, you can see it through the eyes of someone fresh into New Eden, rather than just us old guys talking about it.<br />
<br />
We're still looking to take new recruits into Meatshield, you don't need to have great skills, or a big killboard, we'll take you out of flight school, and see if you can do better than Eric.<br />
<br />

<div>
This should take you up to flying an Assault frigate, and Interceptor at a decent level. By the end of this training program you should have the raw SP to get a decent level of bonus/damage out of the hulls. At which point your piloting skill will account for a significant percentage of your chance of winning a fight. </div>

Yes I think so. <div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The quality of all the contents and packaging is great, the print quality on the book is also great, written largely by Richie Shoemaker from EON fame, it's easy reading, informative, and captures the feel of EVE in the way that only he does. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The rifter looks good on my desk, only complaint here is that it's a USB hub, I'd have preferred just a resin model, however I may just strip all the bits out and drop it into my fishtank anyway :D </div>
<div>
Read through the rules to the Dangergame, looks like it should be a laugh and not take too long to play though, should give my family something to argue over at Christmas.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The thing I'm most enjoying is the sound track, I'd basically forgotten how good the music in EVE is, after playing for most of the last 6 years with the sound off. And played though a decent audio system you can sit back, close your eyes and feel the space opera in full force.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The in game stuff is pretty cool, lots of bits to clutter up your hanger or sell off and get some isk back, and who doesn't want a golden pod? It's soo shiny I tell you!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Dust stuff.. well I don't play DUST514 so first one to send me a mail in game can have my code for the DUST Stuff, I'll probably regret giving that away if they ever release a PC version. But hey ho. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can still get the <a href="https://store.eve.com/collector-s-edition/eve-the-second-decade-collector-s-edition-116" target="_blank">Collectors Edition here: </a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And if your still reading Battleclinic are running a <a href="http://bit.ly/16bhJKU" target="_blank">pumpkin competition here</a>, you'll need to enter before the 30th to be in with a chance of winning the top prize.. a 30 day plex and that mystery prize.... whatever could it be?</div>

<br />
Most frigate fights are over quickly, 40-50 seconds is more than enough to secure the kill and either get out safely, or be ready for the another fight. The usual way to do this is to fight only one ship at a time, as simple as it sounds this is the correct answer.<br />
You need to learn to control the fight in such a way that only one ship is actually fighting you, whilst the others are looking on unable to get into the fight before it's over.<br />
<br />
There are several simple ways to split gangs up.<br />
<br />
<b>The Stargate Split...</b><br />
If you land on a stargate with hostiles, wait for one(some) of them to aggress you then immediately jump through, any ship that aggressed you is now stuck on the other side for 60seconds, this gives you time to fight anyone that followed through without their full gang.<br />
<br />
<b>Catch me if you can...</b><br />
Large groups will often chase you round a solar system, after you've warped to a few different celestials you'll notice their gang getting split up, landing at different ranges, and often going to the wrong planet. Remember you normally have to be 150km away in order to warp, so if you land close enough to a target, and his friends are all 100km away, then you can engage, as they will have to either warp off and back, or burn across the gap.<br />
Make sure they see where you warp to.. align off before warping.<br />
<br />
<b>Deadspace Trap...</b><br />
See all those little beacons in lowsec in the faction warfare areas, novice plex, small plex, medium plex? These are deadspace beacons, they usually have a warp acceleration gate which limits which ships can go inside, this is useful for splitting certain ships, and limiting what can fight you on the inside. But what many people don't realise they are just as useful when you are fighting on the outside of them too. When you warp into them you always warp relative to the gate, even if you are trying to warp to a fleet member. Once you have landed there is no on grid warps. This means if you land on the outside of a deadspace beacon, then burn upwards, anyone that lands on the beacon has to fly to you, and if they send a fast ship out to you, you can kill it before the friends arrive.<br />
<br />
<b>Just a little bit closer...</b><br />
When a gang is hugging a gate you can sometimes pull their tacklers out from the main body of the group and engage them, start by warping in at 100km then hanging about outside of the damage range, wait for their ceptors to burn towards you, but make sure you fly back in and tackle them before they reach 150km from the gang, thus forcing them to burn the distance. Useful if coupled with...<br />
<br />
one of my favourite ways to catch people out when they are tackling for a larger gang.<br />
<b>...The short warp.</b><br />
You can't warp less than 150km right? Wrong!<br />
You can't initiate warp to an object less than 150km away, but you can warp to it at range, thus by sitting 150km from a wreck/gate then warping at 100 to it, you peform a hop of 50km closing the distance faster than expected. This works to bookmarks too...<br />

So you've worked out how to fly your ship, you've mined a few rocks, but something is wrong with the world. You feel the need to ditch your mining laser and fit autocannons, to feel the ripple of excitement as your rockets crash into your target.<br />
<br />
Maybe you're one of those people that like to collect corpse...<br />
<br />
But you're new, you don't know even which end of the autocannon is the shooty bit!<br />
<br />
You need to become MEAT, better still you need to be [QUORN]!<br />
<br />
Meatshield is officially opening it's doors again to the new and fresh faced cadets of New Eden, we will take you apart remove all the squishy bits and put you back together made of kevlar, we will line you up and march you into the jaws of death, where you will take everything that death has to offer you, and then get back on your feet and knock death out. You are immortal, you are better than just meat, you are QUORN!<br />

<br />
So onto another Battleclinic Loadout challenge, back to something a little harder this time.<br />
The magical mysterious Sentinel, terror of the space lanes and capable of striking fear into the hearts of most frigate pilots? Or just another sad panda in need of CCP's love and attention.<br />
There is always much discussion about this little ship, as some say in the hands of the right pilot it can win almost every fight, others will tell you it must hide in the gang or risk being a shiny explosion. <b>What say you?</b><br />
<br />
Will you go MWD or Afterburner?<br />
Do you dare to fly solo? or hide in the crowd.<br />
How shiny is too shiny?<br />
